2HT Radio

Join me every Thursday night at 10pm EST time for SecondHand Radio on Talkshoe! SecondHand Radio is an hour-long talk radio show featuring lots of bloggity goodness each week. I feature a different blogger on each episode and it’s a nice casual organic conversation, filled with laughter, insights, and random topics.

Schedule of Guests

You can click here to see the Google Calendar schedule. All shows are on Thursdays at 10 PM CST. Guests are subject to change, of course. The definite scheduled shows can be found on the SecondHand Radio page.

Listening Details

There’s a live chatroom during the show each week, always lively and fun. You can also call in to talk to me and my guest each week at 724-444-7444, Call ID 23738.

You can listen live or download the show for later listening. There are two ways to listen live: the regular Web interface (use the above link) or the Talkshoe Live client, which you can download here. The downloadable client gives you a timeline chat interface, shown below.

Talkshoe Live Client

You can click on the image for a bigger look. Listening live is the way to go! The downloadable client isn’t required – you can use the Web interface, too – but I like the Live client better. Your mileage may vary.

And yes, it’s recorded. And yes, IT IS AVAILABLE IN ITUNES.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR GUESTS

  1. You’ll want to go and register with Talkshoe if you haven’t already done so. You’ll enter your phone number as your PIN number. This makes it very simple to call in to the show…as soon as you do so, your phone number is recognized and you’ll show up in the Talkshoe Live client.
  2. It’d be great if you can come up with some possible topics to talk about and send them to me in a bullet list. This list can be about anything you want to discuss…funny stories, how you got started blogging, areas of expertise, etc. Send them to me at karl@secondhandkarl.com – and if there are any taboo topics – things you don’t want to talk about – include those, too.
  3. Promote yourself on the show by telling your blog readers about it ahead of time. Tell your readers there’s a chatroom where they can join in on the show’s fun, ask questions, and they are also welcome to call in! You can point them to the following link for the show:
    http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/23738
And again, you can post the call-in number on your blog, too. It’s 724-444-7444, Call ID 23738.
  4. The show is all about you, seriously. It’ll go by quickly and I strive to make it a nice, casual conversation. Yes, other people are invited to call in, but there’s nothing to be nervous about.
  5. Show time is 10pm Eastern time. If you don’t know what that converts to in your time zone, use the Time Zone Converter. Show up in the chatroom maybe five minutes early or so. Chatroom opens 15 minutes before showtime. I’m not saying I’LL be there that early, but y’know…it’s there.
  6. Call in a few minutes before show time. The call-in number is
    (724) 444-7444
. Then you’ll be asked for the Call ID, which is 23738. Then you’ll just wait on hold until I unmute you and bring you on the air. You’ll be able to hear me through your phone before then, as soon as I call in. I tend to call in a little early and start talking, even though I haven’t yet started recording the show.
  7. You’re free to say anything and everything you want. Yes, you can swear. Yes, I do, sometimes profusely. Just be yourself and everything will be great.
  8. PHONE: You’re free to use your cell or a regular phone, whichever number you register Talkshoe with. Please, though, be sure your cordless phone or cell gets a good signal, so it doesn’t cut in and out during the show. You’re also welcome to call in via Skype or use Talkshoe’s built-in VOIP tool.
  9. When we get near the top of the hour, I may very well ask you if you mind going longer than 60 minutes. I can go as long as I want to go with the show, provided (1) you have the time, (2) we still have listeners, and most importantly (3) you’re not boring the shit out of me. It’s up to you. We can wrap up at an hour, or keep going. Unless I have to pee, and even then I might do that stealthily while we’re still talking.
  10. That’s all there is to it! Easy!

Obviously, you’re welcome to contact me before the show with any questions or concerns. Thanks for thinking of being a guest on SecondHand Radio!
