When the Morning Comes

Days like today I kinda just want to say “Blow me, world!” and throw in the towel. Stick my head in the sand, make it all go away, leave me the hell alone.

Therapy was a bitch yesterday. I can’t even go into specifics. Let’s just say that one of many recurring themes discussed was my proclivity to take on too much of OTHER PEOPLE’S shit.

Then I listen to this song and try to let it soak in. The meditations of OK Go.

Dear Jeebus, let this garbage pass.

This Too Shall Pass

by OK Go

You know you can’t keep lettin’ it get you down
And you can’t keep draggin’ that dead weight around.
If there ain’t all that much to lug around,
Better run like hell when you hit the ground.

When the morning comes.
When the morning comes.

You can’t stop these kids from dancin’.
Why would you want to?
Especially when you’re already gettin’ yours.
‘Cause if your mind don’t move and your knees don’t bend,
well don’t go blamin’ the kids again.

When the morning comes.
When the morning comes.

When the morning comes.
When the morning comes.

When the morning comes.
When the morning comes.

Let it go, this too shall pass.
Let it go, this too shall pass.

Let it go, this too shall pass.
(You know you can’t keep lettin’ it get you down. No, you can’t keep lettin’ it get you down.)

Let it go, this too shall pass.
(You know you can’t keep lettin’ it get you down. No, you can’t keep lettin’ it get you down.)

Hey!

Let it go, this too shall pass.
(You know you can’t keep lettin’ it get you down. No, you can’t keep lettin’ it get you down.)

When the morning comes.
(You can’t keep lettin’ it get you down. You can’t keep lettin’ it get you down.)

When the morning comes.
(You can’t keep lettin’ it get you down. No, you can’t keep lettin’ it get you down.)

When the morning comes.
(You can’t keep lettin’ it get you down. You can’t keep lettin’ it get you down.)

When the morning comes.
(You can’t keep lettin’ it get you down. No, you can’t keep lettin’ it get you down.)

When the morning comes!

@Sybil Law, You’re FREE? So if I land on you, I collect $500 plus all the fees collected? Oh wait, that’s free PARKING. Never mind.

Living with the mental illness that I have is a bear sometimes. If not for the power of music and writing, I think I would be a garbage heap under the blankets in my bedroom. The beauty of it is that there is another day tomorrow. We can start over. Hell, why even wait for tomorrow? There’s a new minute coming up every sixty seconds! Seize it!

Ugh. That was way too perky. I sounded like MY therapist. Feh. Nevermind. This clusterfuck of a day will be gone by tomorrow. Hang in there.

@CP, I hear ya. Without music, I’d be screwed myself. I’m so not a Pollyanna “life is wonderful!” person by nature. I just keep pushing on, hoping that today will be better than the previous day. Sometimes, that and music are all that keep me going.

I got lucky and hit bottom during some episode of someone else’s problems. You have to hit bottom.

And I know you think you’ve hit bottom a hundred times, but sometimes it takes 101 times.

Gotta just learn for yourself that for your own self preservation you have to hold other people’s problems at a distance. It’s not you being a shitty friend. In fact you are a better friend when you don’t allow yourself to feel ownership and involvement in other people’s problems so that you can pat them on the head and give them a hug and help them find their OWN strength to crawl out of their shit.

Not your job to fix other people.
