This is the darling Turnbaby, guest posting here at 2HT. My thanks to her. – Karl
Hey y’all
This is my first Summer of Love post. I was supposed to do one last year but some stupid got in the way and that post about how we were searching for a pretty little sable pussy Burmese cat on the Internetz will just be lost in the ether.
But here I am to talk about Love!
I think folks may be SICK of hearing me talk about love because I am undeniably in love with my Husband Brad and he with me. We are annoyingly affectionate in public. We are not gross or anything. It’s just that we are not afraid to touch, look in each other’s eyes and grab a quick kiss. Even if it is in the Walmart parking lot.
And I know about love’s trials and tribulations–in detail.
But when I first thought of writing for Karl I thought of this…
I was asked recently to write some words of advice about marriage on the sash of a bride -to -be during her bachelorette party at the place where we karaoke.
I was overwhelmed with things to say to her. I wanted to tell her all about the highs and lows and how it mattered so much to listen.
But what I wrote was this…..
Remember to be kind to each other
Admittedly simple and we all know the devil is in the details but still…..be kind. Not in the zombie dead sleep walking through life sort of way either.
Love the person for who they are and let yourself remember why you love them.
And tell them.
Tell them every day. Over and over.
In whatever meaningful way it is that works for that person you love.
If you pay attention you will find it.

I agree! Tell everyone you love how much you love them as much as possible. You may only get one chance to say it to some people.
I tell my husband at least 5x a day how much I love him and he tells me too.
I always tell my mom and dad before I hang up, they don’t say it back, it confuses them a bit, but I want them to know.
Great post!

Yes, you two are completely nauseating. But I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I don’t know if I’ve ever said this to you, but thank you for making Brad so happy. He’s a lucky, lucky bastard. And he well knows it too. Of course you didn’t do too badly either.
Love you!

I must admit, however, to being intrigued by the pussy story…

That is REALLY awesome advice, Turn.
It’s not always easy to be kind.
And I’m not married to the love of my life, but I would just like to say: Even if you say something out of your mouth REALLY STUPID you have the choice to freeze the moment, apologize, and back down. You don’t have to keep it going, you don’t have to escalate it, and you don’t have to be embarrassed — just be sorry.
(I do this at least once a week…)

another way to put it is as i learned from bill and ted: be excellent to each other.
