Well, I’m back in the hospital today. Was hoping that Mom would get to go home today, but that doesn’t look likely. Her heart is still beating irregularly and they’re doing a TEE, a special kind of EKG, this afternoon. They don’t want any clots showing up in her heart. That would be a bad thing. Strokes are not fun.
So I’ll be staying another night in Orlando.

Tell you what, I’d have a really hard time just laying in bed all day, but for Mom it’s even worse. She’s a pretty active person…hates sitting on her ass all day. I brought her a newspaper and some crossword books. Still, there’s only so much TV you can watch, even if it’s HGTV (her favorite channel).
When my boyfriend was in hospital after a double knee operation he too went nuts watching tv all day – especially since all that was on were horrific sport accident shows…he broke both his knees skiing in the Rockies!
Hope your Mom feels better soon and that the recovery is speedy. My thoughts and prayers are with you

I don’t have nice things to say about Florida Hospital. They made my husband go get $600 cash in advance for my biopsy. He had to leave me in the waiting room and go to the bank (no advance notice for this little request).
That was AFTER they lost the fax my doctor sent to order the biopsy. After I had already been fasting for 18 hours.

I read your blog post earlier (while in class…I know, I know I should have been paying attention) and I wasn’t sure if I could comment or not. I think I might have tried but I don’t know.
Anyways I know that she doesn’t have to stay the night again. I’m glad to hear that she was able to be released. I was sending good thoughts, well that’s a lie some of those thoughts were biology thoughts. Those you can just send back.

HDTV is good. So are crosswords. Love the logic puzzles! Being stuck in bed sucks majorly especially when you’re worried about all the stuff the docs are doing to ya. I hope your mom gets better quickly. Hang in there!

Hey Karl. Praying for a speedy recovery for your mom. I was in the hospital for 2 months in 2005, it is agonizingly boring. The hands on the clock barely move. When you try to sleep, they come in and wake you up every 30 minute to take your vitals. When you don’t sleep…they try to medicate you so you do. Hospitals suck.
Keep some hand sanitizer with you. Germs!

Now this post brings back memories for me for when my father was in and out of the hospital a few years back. I’ve spent plenty of hours in a visiting room, drinking coffee, pacing and driving myself nuts.
I hope all goes very well for your mom and I’m sending plenty of positive thoughts her way =)
