All You Need Is Love

Glorious three minutes

I love all sorts of movies, including bad ones. Hell, I loved “Teen Wolf” and “Rock and Roll High School” and “Flash Gordon” (great Queen soundtrack) and even “Grease 2.” All terrible movies, but I’ve seen them many times. What? Michelle Pfeiffer was hot singing about Cool Riders.

I’m a movie lover all the way around. But I just thought I’d admit to one of my guilty pleasures: romantic comedies. I just finished watching “Notting Hill” for the first time and really, really liked it. Course, I’m a sucker for Julia Roberts in most things she does, but I especially dig her in romantic comedies. I especially love the ones where the underdog, the geek, the socially inept guy gets the girl. Because, you know, that’s me.

I come out of a movie like “Notting Hill” feeling like anything is possible. Love IS out there for each of us, even me. Love prevails, it fixes the most ravaged soul, the most damaged heart. All is okay with the world, or will be. Or can be. We can do anything, solve any problem, if only we were able to see through those love-tinted lenses.

Three minutes later I’m alone again, faced with the harsh reality.

But, oh, what a glorious three minutes.

Hugh Grant just bugs me. Every time I see him in something I just want to poke him in the eye like you would a dead fish.

Is that weird? I think I might be defective or something.

Reality can be harsh but thank god for those moments of escape. Or else I’d just jump off a bridge.

I liked Flash Gordon a lot.

I watched most of “Notting Hill” yesterday as well. Another good one is “Love Actually,” if you’ve not seen it.

Dawg and I saw the photo above on flickr last night with the “3 minutes” reference and we both thought you got laid. Bummer.

I love the rounded edges and softness effect you applied to it.

And I stand by my last comment on yesterday’s post. I promise.

All you need is love…yes. You WILL find love! The underdog prevails!

Until such time, all you need is mad writing skillz, which you have.

As I said in Twitter, Notting Hill is a great movie. “Opps a daisy”

And I still like that line “I’m just a girl standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her”

I was watching Sleepless in Seattle this morning and Rosie O’Donnell has the line of my life. She says “You don’t want to be in love you want to be in love in a movie”.

Romantic comedies are wonderful but unfortunately love is never that easy in real life. But as I said yesterday I still totally love you for loving romantic comedies. More smooches for you!

    Love… sigh.
    Not enough love these days.

(We watched Flash Gordon with The Boy the other night. He thought it lame. We enjoy the kitchiness of it.)

I’m a sucker fcr There’s Something About Mary. Not only is it hilarious, but it’s romantic as well. Who wouldn’t want someone to love them like that?

You’ll find your perfect love, Karl. I just hope she’s deserving of somebody as cool as you! :-)

Ha! You and I must be the only ones who loved Flash Gordon! How can one go wrong with Queen and Timothy Dalton in tights. YUM. And Notting Hill… awesome. The skinny guy, the roomie… OMG he’s soooo funny. He was even funnier in the Replacements.

Notting Hill is gorgeous! That moment when Julia Roberts is in the shop saying to Hugh Grant “I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her” gets me EVERY time!
Love Actually is totally superb and has some hilarious moments. Chick Flicks totally rock! ;o)

Batman ended our 2 year relationship this weekend (officially last night) so I really wonder if there is love out there for everyone. Ok, maybe there is love out there for everyone, but lasting love? I don’t know.

Maybe that’s why I, like you, get lost in movies, or books. There the girl always gets the guy and the guy always gets it.

Notting Hill was written by my favourite screenwriter ever – Richard Curtis. He also penned Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Mr. Bean, Vicar of Dibley, and Blackadder. I think I love him.

I liked Notting Hill too….I like a lot of the romantic comedies. My sister told me to watch another Hugh Grant movie called ‘Music and Lyrics’ and also has Drew Barrymore. That movie cracked me up cause it is about a guy who used to be a pop star in the ’80’s….funny. Watch it if ya haven’t seen it.

I can make that three minutes LAST like an all day sucker. I am schooled in the art of movie magic immersion. I’m not sure I’d still be here if it weren’t for those three minutes. Music and movies are excellent meds for ravaged souls. I’m writing this the day before your birthday – happy early birthday! Looking forward to the dares :D
