Tired but Still Feeling Freaky

By Secondhand Karl on June 13th, 2008

Right, I apologize for such an emotionally-packed post yesterday. I don’t apologize for my feelings, but just for any possible hurt feelings that may have come as a result of my writing. That’s never my intent, ever, to hurt anyone. But I wouldn’t have felt right about sitting on my hands about this whole mess. That wouldn’t be true to myself.

Onward. It’s Freaky Frakkin’ Friday here at 2HT and that means more random chatting and more prizes. Here’s how it works. Thanks to Woopra, a stats program on my website, I can see everyone’s comings and goings around the blog. AND I have the power to chat with all the people on the blog. Yes, even if you don’t have any chat software, if you are on my blog reading this, I can chat you up. It’s all powered by javascript, I think.

I will be randomly chatting people up all day, till midnight. Hopefully, you have javascript enabled in your web browser. And you might want to think about disabling your pop-up blocker (if you have such a thing) on secondhandkarl.com – that way it’s more likely you’ll see my attempts to talk to you.

Before this post publishes at midnight, I will have gone to random.org and generated random clock times for this 24-hour period. At those times, I’ll be looking at Woopra to see who is on my site. I’ll randomly chat someone up and if they respond to me, they’ll win a prize!

Three people will win 2HT buttons. One lucky person will win an official 2HT mug! Look at this beauty!

If I tell you you’re a winner, I’ll provide you with an email address and a top secret CODE WORD. All you have to do is email me your full name, snail mail address, AND the code word. That’s it, you’ll win your prize!

Be on the lookout for me today. If you see a little message on your screen while you’re on my blog, be sure to click on it to say hi.

So back to my regularly scheduled life, already in progress.

Monday night, I awoke from my daily nap (I so love naps) and called the jury hotline number to see if I was needed at court the next day. Sure enough, I had to report to the Federal District Court the next morning at 8am. The court that was about 100 miles away as the crow flies.

So I packed up a bunch of stuff, enough to last a couple of weeks (just in case). And I drove to Boca Raton to stay with my sister. Where they have no Internet. Well, temporarily. I couldn’t get it to work with my laptop. Or their own computer. I can’t possibly live anywhere for very long without Internet.

Little did I know, the court would have paid for me to stay in a hotel because I live outside a 50-mile radius of the court. Would have been nice to know that before going.

More about the actual case tomorrow. I’m tired and drained and ready for bed.

Shame I can’t participate. I’ll be at work all day and I can’t leave your page up at work without sending up all kinds of redflags with IT.

I give the kids naps just so I can take one too. I like to set a good example.

Hmmm, I wonder what I show up as since I’m reading this with my blackberry… I can leave comments @ blogography.com so I’m pretty sure that means I’m using javascript.

I guess I’m being a little silly because *I* also have woopra and could test it myself with all the little emulation modes the bb browser has.

And I guess I’m even sillier for thinking anjyone cared about that last paragraph.

    Silly, silly whall.

I can’t believe that they made you come in from 100 miles away. I would think you would be out of the district?

I read your blog first thing in the morning when your lazy ass is still asleep, so I’ll never get to chat with you. *sob*

    Penny – Mmm, naps.

Hello – Yeah, may have to split the jury story into parts. Because you know I don’t tell SHORT stories.

Motley – Hmm, stalked by a cute 19-year-old. Nice.

Bluepaintred – Yeah, I think I’d have to agree. Naps before coffee.

Winter – I never forget to take naps. It’s crucial to my well-being.

    NYCWD – Ha! Now THAT’S a nap!

ZZ – Sorry, just woke up from a nap. What? ;)

Kapgar – No worries, there will be prizes and chatting all day long.

Metalmom – What a good parent you are!

Whall – I wonder how you show up, too. Interesting. I’ll have to look and see.

Kyra – There are five counties in this particular district, so nope, I’m totally in the district.

Avitable – Well, this morning, yeah…totally asleep late.

Lynda – Random times do NOT interfere with my nap. Granted, I’m not saying WHEN I’m napping today.

    Dragon – Copier.
