Goodbye, My Love

By Secondhand Karl on April 13th, 2008

No radio show today. More about next week’s show later on in the week.

Oh, how I love you, my darling.

I love the way you feel in my hands, I love that you enjoy me whipping you, and I love the way you glow, always ready to be touched.

My beloved Wii

I will miss you, sweetness.

Alas, my Wii doesn’t work with the new game Super Smash Bros. Something about a dirty lens (which I doubt, since the thing is only three months old) and Super Smash Bros being the first dual-layer disc. I think it’s really a faulty drive myself…all of my other games work just fine. But pop in Super Smash Bros and…nothing. Doesn’t recognize the disc.

Either way, it’s Nintendo’s dime so tomorrow I must put my Wii in a box and FedEx her to Nintendo. Seven business days, they say, but I’ll believe that when I see it.

My Wii Games

Those are my Wii games, by the way. I’ll totally kick your ass in Wii Bowling, yo.

Now for some boring blog things. You can bow out now if you like.

I turned off the CommentLuv plugin because it’s throwing a ton of errors and several people have mentioned to me that every time they leave a comment, the browser throws back a bunch of codish garbledy gook. I have a feeling it might be a WP 2.5 compatibility thing, I don’t know.

Anyone know of a good stats plugin for Wordpress? I’m waiting on a Woopra approval, so hopefully that’ll come in soon. Those stats look great.

And by the way, are you seeing everything okay on 2HT in your browser? Everything looks fine in my browser (both Firefox and (ugh) IE) but I don’t know how it’s looking on a Mac.

I know there are a ton of missing graphics in old posts. Not much I can do there, except eventually replace all the graphics. That’ll take a while in 740+ posts. So just beware, the Archives are full of missing graphics. Some survived, some didn’t.

We got super smash brothers recently, and my boyfriend LOVES it. But I like it better with a classic remote/game cube remote, because the wii remote is tricker, and you have to press up to jump, which continuously confuses me.

Hi Karl. I’ve been a lurker for a while. Just wanted to let you know that
everything looks fine in Safari. Can’t wait to read you everyday. Yesterday’s post was the best!

So what you’re basically saying is that you’re going to miss your Wii huh?
My daughter wants one and I am so scared about how addicted *I* will become if we get one!
Good luck on 7 days, although your American customer service industry is a damn site better than ours from what I can gather.

That happened to me when I switched from Blogger to WP – lost a lot of images. Oh well.

We’ve got a lot of the same games – that Simpsons game was disappointing, wasn’t it?

Sorry about your wii wii–oh wait that was yesterday ;-)

Poor little Wii. I had to resync all our remotes this morning. (What we do for our kids.)

Blog wise: Comment Luv on all blogs send back weird codes. Both here and at work. Very obnoxious glitch.

I’m on a Mac too. Looks cool but every thing is flush to the left.) May it’s supposed to be.. not sure.

I don’t have a Wii but an Xbox 360 and I’m terrified of getting the red-ring of death. I’ve had it since December and no problems so far but I’ve got my fingers crossed. I don’t know what I’d do with myself if it crashed on me.

I’m viewing your blog on a Mac and it looks good in Safari 3.1 and Firefox 2.0.

One reason I switched to a different theme on my blog was due to issues with IE 6 and IE 7. The new design works on all browsers with minimal formatting issues.

No Wii here, but my fiance’s daughter has one. We are a PS3 house here… Blu-Ray all the way!

No games in this house. Cept the computer kind.

You look great in my browser – Sea Monkey. I use Firefox too and you’re fine there as well.

Re Comment Luv… it’s always worked for me on your site. Never works for me on Fab’s. But I’ve never gotten any errors anywhere. Must be the stability of my Sea Monkey.

Hilly – I hope so, too.

Amanda – Yeah, I don’t have a classic controller. Thought about it, though.

Melanie – Hi! No need to be bashful around here, thanks for commenting. Glad it looks good in Safari.

Penelope – You’d really love the Wii. And I have faith in Nintendo, though we’ll see if the 7 days things plays out the way it’s supposed to.

Kyra – thanks, hard left? What do you mean?

Avitable – Yeah, I figured I’d lose something in the move. And the Simpsons game is okay, haven’t played it a ton.

Turnbaby – ha, yeah, that was yesterday’s post. :)

Nat – Flush left. Not sure exactly what you and Kyra mean by that. I don’t suppose you can do a screen capture for me and e-mail it to me? (karl@secondhandkarl.com)

Miss Britt – I’ve heard a few complaints, and that was enough for me. I’ll try it again if and when they update it for 2.5

Lady Jaye – I’ve never tried the other consoles. I generally suck at new consoles, anyway. Bring back the Atari 2600!

Martymankins – Yeah, looks okay to me in IE. But truthfully, I’m more concerned about Mac and Firefox. Your design looks great.

Winter – Sea Monkey? Never heard of it.

Mr. Fabulous – well, I’ve always maintained that moniker for myself. Glad it’s finally catching on.

Wii are sorry about your Wii. Wii are glad Nintendo is fixing it. Wii hope you get it back soon.

We have no game systems in our house. The oldest kid didn’t want to move to FL with us (as in: FUCK! NO WAY!) so we left him all the gaming stuff.

Last game I ever played was Tetris on his first Game Boy. And I beat the crap out of that game.

Yeah you are hard left in my broswer too! Meaning, that everything sits all the way to the left.

    I’ve attached a screencapfor you!

Little Miss Sunshine – Ah, Tetris. Great game. I have it on my Nintendo DS Lite.

Hilly – thanks for the screencap. Yeah, I keep my browser at about 1,000 pixels in width so I don’t see it like that.

Am quite worried now about my commentluv – never had any problems on any site I’ve visited and no complaints so far but there again I’m not too adventurous about the plugins I add and I am totally anal retentive about updates…

Wii-wise. It’ll be okay – it’ll be back soon and all will be right with the world!

  23. Secondhand Karl on April 13, 2008 9:46 pm

Bec – I’ve never experienced the problem myself, but Hilly and Kevin both said they had trouble with it every time. I’ll wait for an upgrade to the plugin before I use it again.

I thought the commentluv was taking up a lot of time for people and also eating bandwidth so I deactivated it. (I don’t know how, but after I installed it, my bandwidth usage was an issue that I had never had before.) But then there are the fucking scrapers who I found are eating up my bandwidth. Fuckers. Um, can I say the f-word here?
